For a longer, leaner, stronger body.

With Carole Barker

Welcome to Arundel Pilates and the principles of Joseph Pilates. My aim: to equip you with good movement skills for life. Pilates is a precise and thoughtful practice, best achieved in small classes — there will be a maximum of 12 people in class.

Getting started

Everyone starts with one lesson or one workshop.

  1. A private lesson, or a workshop

Before joining a class, either a one-hour private lesson at £55 (or a duet, two people for an hour, £80), or a three-hour group beginners workshop at £50, maximum 12 in a group.

  2. A registration form

Everyone is required to complete a registration form, so that Carole knows what she is working with before you step on a mat.

  3. The class that suits you

Then you'll be placed in a class appropriate for your level. Most people start with Level 1.

How Carole teaches

“And how are all the bodies today, anything new to report?”

“I do not adhere to that dreadful cliché ‘no pain, no gain’.”

“I'm not a slave driver!”

“Ultimately Pilates could help you to enjoy your life to the full, be able to participate in any sport of your choice and keep a strong functioning body well into your eighties.”

“Awareness of your alignment, breath and deep postural muscles enables you to strengthen your whole body, achieving perfect balance between flexibility and strength.”

In their words

What her clients say.

Karen Fryer

Julie Holloway
“Her classes are small (no more than 12) and tailor-made to address individual problems.”
Jean H
“Just the right mix of enthusiastic chivvying, encouragement and firmness.”

Two questions

Before you come.

Can I just turn up on the night?

All courses must be booked and paid for in advance. I have to see you first to assess what level is suitable.

I haven't exercised for ages and I'm over 50.

The average age of my clients is between 35 and 55. However, some people in your class may be teenagers or in their 80s. In my classes age, size, shape, sex is totally irrelevant.

Book a first lesson

One lesson, or one workshop, and you're in.

A private hour is £55, a duet £80, a three-hour beginners workshop £50. Ring Carole or send a line and she'll tell you which class you'd land in.

Preview note: in the full build this becomes online registration and booking — the registration form filled in on the page instead of downloaded, printed and emailed back, and six-week blocks bookable from here. Nothing on this page collects information, takes payment, or shows availability, because I do not know it.
